“I would never have thought it possible”, Juan Alave Colque from the remote village of Villa Remedios in Bolivia tells us. His life as a small farmer in the barren Bolivian highlands is characterised by hard work for little return.
“Suyana motivated us to participate in the family project. Now we have a kitchen with a dining room, a pantry, separate bedrooms, a sitting area in the yard and we grow vegetables and medicinal plants. We even built an ecological toilet and bathroom. It was not easy and we had to think and plan well how to do everything. The people from Suyana supported us with knowledge, ideas and tips, but we did everything ourselves. We are proud of what we have achieved. We are now a ‘healthy family’.”
